Braziers Park School of Integrative Social Research

Braziers Park is one of the UK's oldest secular communities started in 1950 with the aims of encouraging conscious co-existence, understanding human's place in nature and taking constructive action in the world. It is a BenCom (community benefit society) managed by its members, resident workers, volunteers and Wwoofers.
It runs educational courses and events and hosts small festivals, weddings and seasonal events. It offers accommodation in its Grade 2* listed Strawberry Hill Gothic mansion house and camping in the orchard or 15 acre sheltered campsite with composting toilets and woodburning showers.
It has a long history with permaculture through Andy Langford and Looby Macnamara who have lived, practiced and taught there. It now offers the Permaculture Association certificated Introduction to Permaculture weekend once or twice a year led by Trish Whitham and/or Phil Pritchard and occasional taster sessions at community weekends and events. See course listings or website. It currently is not offering the full PDC but open to enquiries from teachers.
There are many good examples of permaculture practice on site including community living and group process, water harvesting, renewable energy, organic land management and vegetable growing, sustainabilty practices and use of ethical suppliers.
