Group Visit Scheme
The Group Visit Scheme is effectively a small expenses pot to enable groups of people, particularly those from disadvantaged communities, to visit ScotLAND Centres to learn about permaculture and see it in action. Groups (minimum five persons) can apply for funding of up to £25 per head to visit any ScotLAND Centre.
Interested? Apply now!
Funding is limited so get your applications in early! Groups will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, but priority is given to those who most closely meet our eligibility criteria, as described here.
How it works
Step 1: Gather your group
Gather a group who would like to take part in the visit. Please be aware that this opportunity is designed for people who don’t ordinarily have the chance to engage with permaculture. You will need to briefly explain how this applies to your group. Please see Group Visit Scheme Description for more information.
Step 2: Choose a Centre and apply
Have a look at the ScotLAND Centres here, choose one that you'd like to visit and fill in the Application Form. Please note that all Centres have adequate facilities (e.g toilets, tea making facilities and plenty of biscuits), but not all will meet accessibility requirements for the less able (e.g. muddy paths). You will need to arrange a date for your group visit and confirm any details with your host (e.g. if you want a physical activity or not etc).
If you're stuck for choice, contact us and we can provide more information about the ScotLAND Centres and put you directly in touch with your host Centre. If traveling distance is a deciding factor, use our map to find the closest Centres to you.
Step 3: GO!
Once everything is in place, you're set to go! Your host will give a tour of the site and provide a drink and snack, or even lunch on arrangement. There may also be an opportunity to get involved in some physical tasks like pruning, composting or digging up some veg! Please see Group Visit Scheme Guidelines for more info about organising a visit.
Step 4: Expenses
Each group visit will be allocated £25 per head to cover travel expenses. This might be to hire a minibus or purchase bus tickets for example. The host Centre will also be paid for their time. Please find Expenses Form which will need to be submitted after the visit is complete along with any travel receipts.
Step 5: Feedback
We ask a few simple things from you during your visit, which you must complete in order to retrieve your expenses:
Deadline for applications: June 2019. Please contact email@example.com for more info.
Not quite right for you?
If you've read this far and don't feel like this opportunity is quite right for you and your group, please look at this Community Learning Exchange opportunity offered by Scottish Communities Alliance. We'd love you to be able to visit permaculture in Scotland by any means necessary!
