Introduction to Permaculture

Introduction to Permaculture
Summary information

Permaculture design is all about creating ecologically sound ways of living & working based on observing natural systems and applying ecological principles. It equips you to care for the earth, yourself, and others in ways that are resilient, abundant, and rewarding. It can be a truly life-changing and empowering approach, whatever your circumstances.
This course will include:
• Understanding what permaculture is and how it differs from some other approaches
• Learning about permaculture ethics and principles as tools to guide the design process
• Knowing how to apply zones and sectors in designs
• Undertaking a design questionnaire & site assessment
• Preparing a simple design for a land-based project
The timetable will be designed to make the most of the venue and follows the approved Permaculture Association curriculum. Teaching will be carried out through a variety of classroom based and outdoor sessions, with a mix of theory and practice. The general approach will be participatory and experiential.

About Angie: After training & working as an ecologist, I first practiced permaculture in a tiny urban garden in Sussex before moving to Wales with my husband in 1997. Oursmall acreage has forest gardens, vegetable beds, various wildlife habitats, and hard-working chickens - all interconnected to minimise inputs and optimise benefits over the longer term.
