Resilient Community Design (Online Certificate Course)

RESILIENT COMMUNITY DESIGN course provides information on how to establish and maintain active and resilient communities. For this aim, this course looks at different aspects and challenges of community design and community life such as legal and financial structures of communities; effective communication techniques and management of human relations; advocacy and campaigning; and management of relationships with other communities and governmental and non-governmental bodies.

Beginning a Forest Garden

This one day course will cover the practical steps involved in starting a new forest garden, including understanding your site, planning your garden, access, starting a nursery bed, ground preparation and plant propagation and acquisition. It will be taught by Alan Carter, author of A Food Forest In Your Garden. Most of the course will take place in a working forest garden. Bring a packed lunch.

The Keela Yoga Farm Permaculture Design course combines the standard PDC curriculum with hands-on experience of life at a working permaculture farm. Permaculture in Practice Internship with Rico Zook in Spain

This is a special opportunity to gain hands on experience implementing Regenerative systems under the guidance of experienced and internationally active Permaculture Designer Rico Zook. For one month we will live as a community designing, implementing and learning about the many different regenerative systems that are part of a functioning and productive holistic farm ecosystem. This is an in-depth experience of living and working on a developing permaculture farm in the beautiful Pyrenees north of Barcelona Spain.

Pruning fruit trees and bushes

Pruning is used in orchards and forest gardens to improve yield, health and access. Getting it right involves understanding the growth patterns of the plant you are pruning, to guide it into putting less of its energy into woody growth and more into fruit. This course will introduce the principles that underpin all pruning, and how they apply to apples, pears, plums, cherries, currants, gooseberries and cane fruit. The main course is two hours but there will be an opportunity in the afternoon for those who want to practice what they have learned to do so in a community orchard.
